Cyntellect has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Interdisciplinary Center of Biotechnological Research at the University of Florida. The agreement will focus on a variety of research areas, including the purification and analysis of the cancer stem cells (CSCs), rare cells that are believed to be directly involved in the spread of cancer. NatureWorks and Avantium have announced a development partnership made up to achieve a better knowledge of the properties and commercial potential of a new generation of polymers made with renewable energy.
The partnership is based on work by Avantium in monomers and polymers derived from non-food biomass and NatureWorks successful in developing a wide range of markets and products to complete their biopolymer Inge (TM). Avantium called this class of polymers with bio-origin Furanics, and the company believes that this new class of products for plastics and biofuels remains a major undertaking, as they have an effective potential in production, has a wide availability and diversity of sources biomass and has the versatility and performance of final products.
