Seambiotic has announced that its subsidiary in the U.S., Seambiotic USA has entered into an agreement with NASA Glenn Research Center to develop a program of collaborative R & D for optimization of processes of growth of microalgae open pond.
"Within the agreement of the special law, NASA will partner with USA Seambiotic modeling growth processes for microalgae for use as feed for aviation biofuels," said profesorAmi Ben-Amotz, scientific advisor of Seambiotic. "The agreement is aimed to use the experience of the NASA computer modeling large-scale combined with modeling of biological processes Seambiotic to make progress in reducing cost of processing biomass.
Under the agreement, NASA Glenn Seambiotic and USA work together to improve production processes and to study and classify the species of algae oil and alternative production processes such as aviation fuel in the test facilities at NASA.
