This position will provide technical assistance to refinery operations and are responsible for a variety of projects and assignments that include design, modification, trouble-shooting, and maintenance of refinery facilities.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Monitors daily operation of assigned process plants
Assists in the trouble-shooting of assigned process plants
Assists in the design and modification of assigned process plants
Assists in startup and shutdown of assigned process units including turnaround
Assists in performing economic analysis and evaluation of current operations and proposed improvement
Assists in a continuous improvement process of identifying and implementing ideas which will reduce operating expense or increase value of products produced
Complies with and enforces established rules and regulations involving safety and the environment
Must be able to work effectively with others at all levels and functional areas of the refinery
Daily communications with operators regarding unit performance and feedback regarding proposed new capital projects
Other duties as required

Working Conditions:
This position is at a refinery location. While in refinery, exposed to heat, noise, humidity, altitude, smoke, fumes, dust, gases, hydrocarbons, paints, and solvents. Safety glasses, Nomex flame resistant coveralls, earplugs, gloves, steel toe shoes, hard hats, and respirators are provided. Work hours are on a 9/80 schedule, Monday- Thursday 7am-4:30pm & every other Friday 7am-3:30pm. Must be available to work other hours when necessary.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, or equivalent required. Minimum 5 years experience in a petroleum refinery or chemical engineering environment preferred.

Other Qualifications:

Must not be afraid of heights or confined spaces
Must be safety and environmentally sensitive
Strong oral and written communication skills are required
Must have demonstrated effective interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with multi-functional teams
Must be able to climb towers and vessels to gather data and assist in turnaround activities
