Description
Praxair's Engineering organization, Global Supply Systems, is currently seeking Process Engineers and Senior Process Engineers.
Process Engineers are involved in process development, process design, functional equipment specification, functional control definition, commissioning, and operations support. Additional duties may include heat exchanger design, control valve & flow element sizing, technical risk analysis, safety assessment and documentation, operator training, plant start-up and troubleshooting, and plant process optimization. Assignments may be in U.S. Project Execution, Large Custom Plants, HYCO, or Product Line (CO2, specialty gases, cryogenic ASU plants), etc.
Additional responsibilities may include the following:
Support of global execution centers on projects, proposals, and product line development programs.
Process design including plant performance calculations, development of process diagrams and models.
Sizing and selection of process related equipment.
Leadership of key process safety activities such as HAZID, HAZOP, and PSR.
Preparation of cost and manpower estimates and engineering design memorandums.
Participation in field start-ups and leadership of plant performance evaluations.
Support of R&D new technology development programs.
Evaluation of supplier quotes and drawings.
Support of global operations during start-up, commissioning and plant evaluation.
Qualifications
Requires a BS or MS in Chemical Engineering. Requires a fundamental understanding of thermodynamics, unit operations (i.e. distillation) kinetics, fluid flow, heat transfer, control philosophy and an aptitude for problem solving. Familiarity with process simulation tools (HYSYS or equivalent) is desired for entry-level positions and required for experienced and senior level positions.
Senior level Process Engineer positions require 5+ years experience with process design and/or plant operations as well as experience leading process engineering efforts in proposals, designs, startups, and/or plant evaluations. Experience in the chemical process industry strongly preferred.
All positions require 10%-20% travel, including international travel for plant commissioning and testing activities.
Position will be offered at a level commensurate with experience.
