The Sr. Process Design Engineer is primarily responsible for designing simulation models utilizing the company technology, and evaluating alternative process configurations in order to support commissioning pilot, demonstration and commercial coal gasification plants.

Responsibilities
The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but are not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.

Conduct engineering studies and recommend technology choices for BlueGas process flow sheet.

Utilize GPE Hysys and best in class models to study, evaluate and optimize the bluegastm process flowsheet with specific focus on gas clean up.

Compare and contrast technologies for product methane purification.

Evaluate and optimize the heat integration between the gasifier and gas recycle loop for maximum energy recovery and process robustness.

Prepare mass and energy balances of unit operations or whole plants.
Write performance specifications for for key unit operations or equipment.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is required.

Experience
Seven years experience in Pilot Plant operation, process design and/or process evaluation utilizing process simulation and spreadsheet software is required.

Skills
Must possess well-developed analytical skills to analyze and interpret scientific data when designing and evaluating production processes.

Good written and oral communications skills to communicate with senior management and the engineering and research and development staff.

Must have the ability to operate a computer and technical software.

Working Relationships/Contacts:
Frequent internal contacts with the Process & Reporting Manager to support projects and report results of analyses. Involves contact with Engineering and Business Development staff to provide process simulations and calculations. Also includes contact with the Research and Development staff to provide guidance and technical support to the research and evaluation efforts.

Frequent external contacts with licensees and approved engineering contractors to provide technical support and process descriptions.
