This position assists and supports the Risk Management Plan (RMP), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), and Fugitive Emission Hazardous Organic NESHAP (HON) Programs at the Great Plains Synfuels Plant and supports Company compliance with the federal, state, and local environmental regulations pertaining to these Programs.
This position requires a four-year degree in chemical, civil, mechanical, or environmental engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited engineering program with up to three years experience in an engineering discipline in the environmental, chemical, petroleum refining, or petrochemical industries is preferred, but not required. Good oral and written communication skills are also required. An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate is desired.
Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, use of keyboard, and carrying up to 10 pounds and occasional stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level, crawling, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds. Requires good finger dexterity, ability to perform close work, good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. On a daily basis, requires the ability to analyze data, conduct research, implement recommendations, develop plans and goals, present information to others, and work under pressure of time restraints. Over 50 percent of the day is spent in an office environment. Exposed occasionally to dirt, dust, chemicals, extreme heat, cold, vibrations, noise, poor ventilation, confined areas, and working at heights. Travel is required to meet with vendors and for training.
