How does a desalination

The seawater treatment performed by a desalination plant consists of five basic steps:
1. The first stage of treatment to desalinate water, consists of the collection and pre-treatment. At the bottom of the sea, collecting ducts are one of hundreds of meters long. These are responsible for capturing the salty water and take it to the pre-treatment section. In this area, we make the separation of suspended solids and sodium hypochlorite is added to strip the water of bacteria and other microorganisms.
2. Then he continues the filtering stage. This is done using sand filters and coagulants such as ferric chloride. These are responsible for sifting the smaller particles remaining dissolved in the aqueous solution.

3. Next step, is separated from the particles that are smaller still. This stage is called "microfiltration". Special filters are used with activated carbon cartridge, along with other products. These filters have the ability to capture the remaining trace impurities.
4. The most important stage in the process, when water is transported through the racks of reverse osmosis. These racks are located in the heart of desalination plants and are responsible for turning salt water into fresh water. Naturally, osmosis is a process that occurs in all cells of living organisms. This advertising allows two solutions of different salt concentration, the liquid moves, passing through a membrane, from the lowest to the solution of higher concentration. In desalination plants, the process runs in reverse applies mechanical pressure on the container that has the most concentrated. Thus, the water flows in the opposite direction, shedding salt. A pressure pump is responsible for passing the salt water through a tube that has seven semi-permeable membranes. These allow only the output of the molecules of water and capture the salts.
5. The last stage of the desalination process is the after-treatment and deposition. Re-mineralize the water through the addition of lime and carbon dioxide. Thus, it is fit for consumption. Finally, the treated water is placed in a special tank and is ready for distribution. The brine which remains as waste is removed from the racks and returned to the sea.
