The primary air is combined with fuel before reaching the burner head, forming a mixture. The theoretical air is required for each fuel to burn properly and completely.

There are a variety of nozzle mix burners, where the main difference
lies in the way of injecting the gas, to mix with air and the flame is formed.

They are widely used in industry because these burners are safe:

-Large capacity
"The characteristics of the flame provide better control.

A flammable mixture as it exits the burner head, the flame front progresses and burning the mixture.

The speed with which the flame spread depends on the following factors:

"The nature of the oxidant.
"The inert gases such as nitrogen, reduce the speed of combustion. In contrast, the oxygen increases the speed.
"The temperature of the mixture.
"The speed of propagation of the flame increases if you raise the temperature of the mixture.
-The ratio of fuel and oxidizer.

When air is used to develop the combustion which is a normal action on all burners, you can calculate the variation of the speed of propagation of flame through the primary aeration rate.

The primary aeration rate (n) is the ratio of primary air volume and the theoretical:

n = volume of primary air / theoretical air volume.

The flame generated by the combustion of gas is correct when the center presents a plume, almost transparent.
There is a cone of blue or greenish blue, depending on the gas.
This flame will be short and hard, fast burning.

If the flame burns yellow and long and weak-looking, is called defective. The cause is due to poor regulation of primary air.
This flame will burn more slowly.

The orange color of the flame, can sometimes be misleading. Indeed, this color is usually due to lack of air, but also the color orange is the result of the accumulation of foreign materials inside the burner, like dust. This is circumstantial
and easy disposal.

The length of the flame, at times depends on aeration. In others, depends on the power or flow rate supplied by the burner, while considering the constant characteristic of each gas.
