The Astellas European Foundation announces the winner of Urology 2009

In a ceremony held at the 24th Annual EAU Congress in Stockholm, Sweden, the Astellas European Foundation announced the winner of Urology 2009. Dr. Wouter Everaerts, MD and his team at KU Leuven, Belgium, received a cash prize of U.S. $ 300,000 to support their work in investigating the role of channel transient receptor potential (TRP or by Advertisement its acronym in English) in the bladder.

The Astellas European Foundation is a registered charity, founded in 2005, with the long-term objective to provide support for programs and activities that contribute to the advancement of a society increasingly healthy. Award of Urology Astellas European Foundation was established in 2006 to recognize the strong commitment of urology with Astellas. Since its inception, the program has provided more than 1.2 million U.S. dollars to support basic medical and scientific programs that contribute to advances in urology.
