Classifications of water

The water that exists in the world is not a single type can be classified according to its composition containing mineral salts and are present in a given amount of liquid. These may be soft water, hard, alkaline and neutral that not only may differ in the amount of minerals they contain but also the type of minerals.

However, there is another classification of water, taking into account the origin of certain fluids such as salt water and wastewater among others. Water treatment by which a decision is taken to treat a given amount of fluid, is defined according to the type of water to purify desired, the volume to be treated and the result is desired. In this way the salt water treatment is done through a method called reverse osmosis, in which separation is achieved through greater pressure the concentration of salts and dissolved substances than is the liquid itself.
